Houston, TX (April 20th, 2007) – Azonix will introduce its new ProPanel® Thin Client TC2100, a stand-alone embedded computer designed to fit remote terminal applications as a thin client or embedded controller at the Offshore Technology Conference 2007 being held April 29- May 3, at the Reliant Center in Houston, TX. Utilizing its core competencies in certifying equipment for hazardous areas and its understanding of rig floor surface equipment, Azonix built the new hardware platform to survive the abuse of the rig floor environment while providing important benefits such as lower weight, larger display area and smaller size.
One of the most important new features is the 15-inch sunlight-viewable LCD screen which provides high resolution for a sharp, clear display; the larger screen area makes it possible to view more information. The TC2100’s modular design makes it easy to troubleshoot problems while keeping service and support costs at a minimum. According to Kevin McCarthy, V.P. of Sales and Marketing, Azonix’s field proven ProPanel technology offers the longest service life available for the lowest cost of ownership.
The ProPanel® Thin Client TC2100, an extension of the Azonix ProPanel Thin Client product line, is portable so it can be transported from site to site or easily mounted for permanent installation. A wireless option provides high-security, high-speed communications and increases productivity where installers can eliminate labor and expense inherent in setup time and cabling installation of rig-floor surface equipment computers.
Due to the Intrinsically Safe Ethernet, the weight, size and use of standard RJ45 or wireless connectors and cables contributes to the overall efficiency of the TC2100; standard cables also avoid the cost inherent with EEx’d connectors or armored cables. Rugged Zone 1 construction makes the TC2100 particularly well suited to the environmental extremes of oil and gas exploration applications.
Targeted at MWD/LWD, mud-logging and data-rich applications, the TC2100 has additional optional features such as an integrated Ethernet hub to connect Intrinsically Safe rig devices such as cameras and VOIP phones. Similar to the TC2500 ProPanel® Thin Client model, which has been widely accepted and used in hundreds of applications since its introduction in 2004, wireless Intrinsically Safe Ethernet communication and touch-screen options are available with the TC2100. The system runs an embedded XP, service pack 2.0 with the .net platform and remains operational in extremes of temperatures and vibrations.
The features of Azonix Thin Client technology provide exceptionally low cost of ownership, and enable oil and gas exploration service companies to utilize computer control and communications effectively in new ways and in new locations. The new TC2100 design pushes ProPanel further into the realm of point-of-attack applications for operations in hazardous areas such as skids, gas terminal stations, remote installations, offshore rigs applications and more.
Azonix will showcase the ProPanel® Thin Client TC2100 in booth (4705) at OTC 2007.
